Irish water treatment company Ireland Waste Water (IWW) has launched a new product that it claims will revolutionise the industry in Ireland and across Europe.

The Cork-based family firm has developed the Circle 7 product, which treats waste water by percolation using an advanced filtration system that returns it to near drinking water standard. Circle 7 can be fitted to new and existing waste water treatment plants to vastly improve the quality of the system, it said.

IWW founders Niall and Mary Mulcahy spent three years with significant investment in creating Circle 7 and have invested more than 20pc of IWW’s profits into the invention, it said.

The company said it expected the product to double the size of IWW and it recently purchased new land to allow for an expansion of its premises. It is planning to recruit ten new employees, doubling the size of the workforce over the next five years.

The total septic tank market in Ireland is estimated to be worth more than €3bn.
